Ethylene Glycol (EG) is a colorless, sweet-tasting liquid. Despite its unassuming appearance, it is a true “unsung hero” of modern industry. Its primary use is in producing polyester fiber—commonly known as polyester—vibrantly filling our wardrobes. It is also used to manufacture packaging materials such as beverage bottles.
During winter, it transforms into antifreeze for vehicles, protecting engines from freezing in cold weather and boiling over in heat. Furthermore, it is widely utilized in paints, cosmetics, and industrial cooling systems. Despite its versatility, a critical safety note is essential: Ethylene Glycol is toxic and must never be ingested.
